Post-Election Thoughts
It’s over!
What a chaotic few months! Politics is not for the faint of heart and I’m glad that we put up a really good campaign. During the race, one of my patients gave me this:

Anger. Frustration. Irritation. Just like my patient, I too “was in my feelings” during this race because I couldn’t shape the narratives that floated in “the media.” Nature abhors a vacuum and in the world of news, if you’re not crafting your story, someone else will do it for you. So I’m reclaiming my time and reclaiming my story:
What’s next?
I love singing and I’ve done so for the last 29 years. In 2012, I joined the Turtle Creek Chorale in Dallas, TX and this year will be my 10th year of singing with them. On July 2nd and 3rd, we will be unveiling the world premier of Dreamland: Tulsa 1921 at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas followed by singing in Carnegie Hall.
Of all the things I’ve ever done in the arts, this is the most profound. Why? Because I get to sing and share a powerful message of awareness, togetherness, and healing. That I get to share the cultural richness of being a Black man in today’s society. We get to show young Black kids everywhere that they are seen and heard and appreciated.
Continue to watch this space: I have no time for hate or mess. My message will be love and leaning into the hard things regardless of the negativity and vitriol people mire themselves in. Onward and upward.
